Imagining an augmented reality future that’s not an advertising hell.
London design firm Berg and advertising agency Dentsu produced this short video, “Media Surfaces: Incidental Media,” demonstrating a vision for a future in which media surfaces are everywhere, but are used to be playful, informative and to better connect you to your friends and family.
Paul Higgins:I was particularly taken by the simple idea of printing breaking news headlines on receipts as people shop - a simple and clever way to use existing systems for communication.

Installation “Faces of the city” screened at huge screens at subway station Beurs (Rotterdam). For this installation, Menno Otten filmed the faces of a variety of people in trams, while they are staring out of the window, alone with their thoughts. When the trams comes to a hold, we as audience on the platform get a small glimpse of the traveller behind the glass of the tram and get the chance to observe them in a moment of silence.
