Barbara Kruger created a large, type-based installation, entitled “Past / Present / Future”, as part of the “Taking Place” exhibition at The Temporary Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

A show which aims to address the current condition of the gallery, which remains unfinished. Kruger’s newly-commissioned, site-specific piece has been situated in the Stedlijk’s largest room, known as the “hall of honor”, and uses provocative, emotionally charged statements to confront and shatter clichés and stereotypes. The exhibition, which also includes new work from other eminent artists such as On Kawara, Jan Dibbets and Rineke Dijkstra, will be taking place until 9 January 2011.
